Around the period of December, my personal computer began exhibiting significantly reduced frame rates while playing games. Initially, I suspected that Warzone was simply exceptionally optimized for PC performance. However, I soon discovered this problem extended to all of my games, and I also noticed distortion in the audio through the HDMI port when gaming. This issue persisted even during music or video playback but only appeared after launching a game and continued until I rebooted my computer. Initially, it was suggested that the power supply unit (PSU) was the cause, so I had it replaced under warranty – my entire PC is approximately two years old. The problem remained, leading me to reinstall Windows without success. I was largely unable to resolve the issue due to lockdown restrictions at the time.

I took my computer to a local store twice for diagnostics, and both times they determined there were no problems. Despite this, I felt they hadn’t thoroughly investigated the situation. Both visits involved approximately a month-long wait, and when I called to inquire about progress, they informed me it was ready for pickup; they attempted to contact me yesterday.

I purchased new speakers that connect via the audio jack on my motherboard, and the sound distortion issue has been resolved, leading me to believe the problem originated with my graphics card. My previous GPU was an MSI 1080Ti. I sent it to MSI for repair and received a complimentary upgrade to a 2080 Duke. The HDMI audio distortion is now fixed, but I’m still experiencing extremely low frame rates in my games, and I can't identify the reason. I have disassembled my computer multiple times without any change. I’ve tested various games to assess performance, consistently encountering low frame rates across all titles – even demanding ones like Sea of Thieves at their lowest settings (achieving only 5 frames). Smaller indie games suffer similarly.

I’ve meticulously checked every component, ensuring everything is properly installed and secure. My MSI Afterburner monitoring reveals no overheating issues; the GPU utilizes approximately 99% of its capacity during gameplay, while the RAM reaches around 50%. I have an i7-7740x CPU with water cooling, 16GB of RAM, and a Cooler Master Cosmos C700m case – a large model offering ample airflow. My power supply is a Corsair RM 850X, and my motherboard is an MSI Gaming M7 ACK X299. I’ve also completed a full system wipe and updated all drivers.

Could anyone offer any insights into what might be causing this persistent problem?

Sorry, didn't see that. That PSU has excellent reviews, including a very good one at jonnyGURU, which is considered to be THE best PSU reviewer. So it's unlikely the culprit.

That’s incredible! It sounds like a really frustrating and bizarre situation – you've essentially received a brand-new, identical faulty component.

Thank you for providing that detailed update - it gives a much clearer picture of what happened. It highlights how important thorough testing is before investing in new hardware.

Is there anything specific you’d like to discuss about this experience? Would you like help with:

* **Troubleshooting further?** (Though it seems like the issue is inherent to the component)
* **Contacting the seller/manufacturer for a replacement/refund?**
* **Sharing your experience with others online?**

I’ve resolved my issue. It was simply bad luck that I received two defective graphics cards consecutively. Thank you all for your assistance.

What graphics card did you swap out for the broken one?
