I've experienced intermittent connection problems for some time now. It's unclear exactly what triggered this, but I suspect a DNS-related issue might be involved. Turning off or enabling the network adapter resolved it quickly, which is helpful since I'm not always available to troubleshoot. Recently, I bought a new network card (my motherboard already had a 1Gbps chip) and upgraded my internet connection to 2.5Gbps, along with replacing the router and Wi-Fi antenna. The problems seemed to start shortly after these changes. It's difficult to pinpoint the cause because outages can occur days later. I've searched for similar issues and tried several fixes without success. My main concerns are: random internet drops (sometimes an hour, sometimes a day), and the simple solution of restarting the network adapter doesn't always work. I've adjusted advanced settings in Device Manager, checked router configurations, updated drivers, ensured no power management conflicts, disabled the motherboard adapter if needed, scrubbed event logs, and even performed a DNS flush. Additional details: I use both IPv4 and IPv6, run bandwidth-heavy relays and file hosting apps at times, and this only happens on my specific machine. I've attached a log showing my network status during good and bad connections. Please let me know if anyone has insights or solutions!

I'm not sure, but I thought you could help. I found a USB wireless card that's overheating and disconnecting. After putting a heat sink inside, it's been working fine. Could the card be getting too warm? Maybe adding some airflow would help.

It seems like you want to confirm your network setup. Your connection uses a Cat6 cable.

Consider installing a fan for the Asus PCE-C2500 card.

It seems there may be some confusion. The details about ventilation and warmth don't align with what you're describing. Could you clarify the situation?

If it's not running, it should stay cool. However, with intense usage it could become warm? As I mentioned, this is just an assumption.

It's operating continuously under normal conditions. I never disable my services.

It would lose connection after some time before loading. I focused on the thermals. The heat sink stays consistent, never drops. I’m sharing my thoughts and a suggestion. Pay attention to the back side. The chip sits inside the metal casing, but the back side is where you’d likely sense the heat more. Here’s a photo of mine. I’ve owned it for years, and this was my commitment. I recommend adding a fan, not opening it up like I did. The trick with the fan helped me access it and secure it.

Concerned it might not be the main problem, regardless of whether you're a fan or not.

When handling data-heavy tasks, it's understandable to lose connection. What amount of bandwidth are you actually using with your current provider?
