Now that you mentioned it, I believe using the device manager could be a simpler approach. If I open it, select update drivers and choose the driver I prefer, I might avoid much hassle. I’ve had to do this with quite old USB devices before. I also recall finding a folder on my computer containing 12 backups of AMD Radeon files totaling 30GB, which could help locate the desired driver. Alternatively, I can download it directly from the AMD website. When I first installed my graphics card on Windows 7, I had to use the CD-provided driver and update it through each version before it functioned correctly. Luckily, that didn’t happen when I moved to Windows 10.

I switched to an older driver, and the issue hasn’t been fully resolved. The problem now causes programs to crash instead of freezing completely. I’d prefer crashes so I can reset the computer each time it freezes.

It seems you're optimizing your PC's GPU usage. Consider updating the Radeon Pro Software for Enterprise and checking your motherboard's BIOS for any recent updates.

I gave it a try and it seems to be working fine so far, though the sound cuts out in videos. I haven’t played any games yet. I recall a previous driver that had audio issues and would freeze, but it managed to restart on its own. I’m hoping this one won’t behave the same way.

my motherboard BIOS is version 4002, which isn't very recent, but there are still updates available. I'm not sure it's related to the BIOS since the board itself is newer than the graphics card. I'm also unsure because just last December my previous board stopped working after a BIOS update, so i had to swap it out for one with a BIOS flash button.

I've checked Minecraft and runs are working, but playing YouTube causes audio issues. It seems the GPU might be limiting the CPU performance. Your GPU often switches off completely while the CPU stays low, which could explain the choppy sound.

Verify your motherboard audio driver and apply the latest version.
