Experiencing sudden PC crashes during gameplay is frustrating.
Hey there! I’m a beginner building my PC for top-notch 1080p gaming. Recently, I set up a 60Hz monitor and wanted to use it for smoother gameplay. Mostly I’ve played "Hell Let Loose," but the issue popped up with other titles too. While playing Hell Let Loose at high settings, I was getting around 60 frames per second, with the GPU running hot (around 60°C) and the CPU warm (about 50°C) while using 20% of its capacity. I’ve been using a Riva tuner to monitor temps.
Here’s my PC setup:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF (used M9 Plus Cryorig cooler)
- GPU: Gigabyte RX 5600 XT Gaming OC (BIO flash applied)
- RAM: 16GB (2x8GB)
- Motherboard: Team Force Vulcan 3200MHz
- Storage: 1TB Crucial P1 NVMe SSD
- Power Supply: Cooler Master MWE 650W Gold
My experience? The PC would buzz, show an empty green screen, then crash. I’d have to press the reset button to restart. This could happen after about 10 minutes into a game, or even after an hour. I’ve tried lowering GPU and RAM speeds, underclocking the GPU, and using stability tools like Cinebench, Heaven, and OCCT. The PC passed those tests, but still crashes randomly.
I’m hoping someone can help me fix this before it disrupts my gaming sessions with friends. Thanks a lot!
The problem lies exactly where described. This chip handles up to 2933mt/s frequency. Beyond that point, it starts affecting the IMC. You may want to experiment with certain settings. In bios, switch GearDown mode off so it disables Set PowerDown. Adjust SOC voltage to 1.10v and increase memory voltage from XMP 1.35v to 1.40v.
Yes, that's correct. You want to keep the RAM speed at 3200 and adjust the remaining configuration parameters.
It might be better to stick with the default RAM settings rather than adjusting BIOs.
I believe it handles 2933mhz more smoothly. Reduce the memory frequency accordingly and check for stability.
