Experiencing strange delays on your PC? Let me know if you need assistance.
Hello, I recently installed this PC and noticed it freezes briefly every time I try to log in with all my startup programs running. Once everything loads, it works fine again. Occasionally, programs also freeze completely. The main thing I’m observing is that when a game starts on the loading screen while a YouTube video plays on another monitor, the video’s frame rate drops dramatically—around 15 FPS or less—but returns to normal once the game finishes. I’m not sure what’s causing this issue and don’t know the exact problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Mark.
What are the details of your machine? Are you reaching full capacity on any feature? What are the temperatures on your system? If everything is within normal and safe limits, I’d consider rebooting the operating system and starting a fresh installation.
The specifications are 7950X3D 4090 STRIX 64GB DDR5 CORSAIR DOMINATOR RAM, paired with a 1600W PSU from ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR X670E. I installed Windows 11 and thought that was the problem, but after switching to Windows 10 it didn’t help. I also tried adding a 3090 and changed the RAM, but the performance stayed the same. Temperatures stay below 60 for the GPU and under 55 for the CPU. Nothing seems to be hitting full capacity. Any suggestions?
I would begin by ensuring all window updates are finished. Next, I’d download drivers using the update utility. Then, I’d look for BIOS updates and install them if available. After that, I’d re-seat the RAM and GPU since Yolo is causing issues. I’d also download a program to assess drive health. Finally, I’d format the drive and reinstall Windows, though I’d skip step 6 if the previous steps resolved your problem.
I verified with CrystalDiskInfo it showed optimal performance. I applied the newest BIOS before setting up Windows, and I’ve already updated to the most recent drivers from last day.
