Experiencing slowdowns while gaming at high frame rates.
Hello everyone, I'm seeking assistance urgently. I recently assembled a new gaming PC with the following specifications:
AMD Ryzen 9 3600X
Asus TUF Gaming X570 Wifi MB
G.Skill TridentZ 32GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM
Asus RTX 2080 Ti Advanced Edition
Cooler Master MasterWatt 750W Bronze PSU
2TB SSD Storage
HP Omen 27” 165Hz / G-Sync Monitor
Secondary monitor: 27” 165Hz FreeSync
Both displays are 1440p resolution.
Initially, the system operated flawlessly; however, over the past few weeks, I’ve experienced noticeable stuttering during gameplay. Specifically, mouse movement feels sluggish and erratic, resulting in a choppy performance – it's difficult to articulate precisely. I play Apex Legends at 150/230 frames per second on ultra settings, yet the gameplay remains far from smooth. I've experimented with VSync and frame limiting in the NVIDIA control panel, which provided minor improvement, but the issue persists. I’m becoming increasingly exasperated and frustrated. Could some experienced individuals please offer guidance? I’ve been using MSI Afterburner to monitor my performance, and I'll attach an image to this thread.

The second illustration reveals numerous fluctuations in frame duration, likely occurring during periods of delay. Otherwise, the appearance is unremarkable.
It’s similar to the experience when my display's refresh rate dips below what the frame rate requires – it runs smoothly, but once it rises above that point, the gameplay becomes unplayable.
I've attempted both options for them/ no change/ it’s incredibly sluggish, feeling like I’m playing at 50 frames per second on a 17-inch screen/ I even installed a new power supply yesterday, hoping that my system might be damaged, but it didn’t help/ I’m extremely frustrated—perhaps the motherboard is faulty?
Could you describe any modifications or installations that occurred between the time it was operating correctly and when problems started?
Is a virus or malware involved?
I'm having trouble recalling it, but it’s primarily a problem within Apex Legends. I require playing with double buffering enabled rather than V-sync disabled, otherwise the game is unplayable—it feels extremely choppy. I also recently swapped out my graphics card, and the issue persists.
