Hey there, I set up these new PC specs recently. This isn’t my first attempt. I’m experiencing random freezes lasting a few seconds and USB ports disconnecting briefly before reconnecting, then working again. It happens 3-4 times. At first, I assumed overheating was the cause, so I swapped in a water cooler fan. But the problem persists. All system updates are current—BIOS, graphics, everything’s fine. I’ve unplugged all USB ports except keyboard and mouse, but it still occurs. Any clue why this keeps happening? Is the motherboard failing or is there another issue? Could the CPU be the problem, or is there insufficient power? Might the motherboard not match the CPU?

If it were a CPU/MBO compatibility problem, you wouldn't be able to post at all. Which devices are connected through USB during this situation? Have you installed the most recent drivers? Would you like to check the Windows Event Viewer and take a screenshot of the events that match when this occurs?

I’d look into Event Viewer. Because the system isn’t crashing immediately, it’s simpler to troubleshoot. It’s hard to tell exactly what’s causing this issue. Have you tried disconnecting all non-essential devices from USB? A suspicious device might be blocking the system.

My idea is correct—perhaps a powered USB HDD or similar device could be triggering the lock.

The only connections I have are my mouse, keyboard, and HS70 Corsair headset. I can check it out.

You seem to have sufficient power, right? Did you increase the frequency or anything?

You're looking for something to watch at Windows events. Since you don't overclock and mainly use the PC for gaming, focus on streaming or content related to gaming and tech events.

Check the Windows Event Viewer for matching errors. Ensure all drivers are up to date. Can you have this problem happen again?

I'm currently viewing it. I'll share a screenshot. I can't recreate it. Once everything is reset, it occurs unpredictably.
