I completed my initial installation smoothly and set up Windows 11. While checking display options, HDR was enabled. Switching it off restored the screen, but turning it back on again caused it to go black. After connecting via HDMI, the display worked properly. However, the system reported HDR isn't supported. Restarting with DP didn’t help either. I attempted a recovery of Windows but still received errors. I’m unsure if a clean reinstall is necessary or if there’s a way to adjust DP settings while using HDMI. Any advice would be appreciated.

Are you using the correct cable? Not all DP cables are identical. Most issues stem from using an incorrect cable. It doesn’t seem like a window problem, but rather the monitor or GPU isn’t responding well. Which GPU are you running?

Initially everything functioned smoothly with the dp cable. 1440p at 144hz. The issue arose only when attempting to enable HDR, which I didn’t mind at all. It’s a vibrant 3080 12gb model. There was just a black screen through the dp port and the HDR option disappeared when connected via HDMI.

1440p at 144Hz has been achievable for several years, but HDR follows a distinct standard. Verify your cable supports DisplayPort 1.4 or higher; otherwise, the issue may lie with your monitor.

It seems to be version 1.4. I believe the issue might be with the monitor not supporting HDR. Booting into safe mode and adjusting settings could help. Would you like to try that?

Uncertain about the fix after exiting safe mode. If you decide to turn it off for appearance reasons, there could be complications if it crashes later.

I'm going to try safeboot to check what happens. If it doesn't work, I'll reinstall everything. No changes made yet, so nothing lost. I'll let you know if anything succeeds. Appreciate the updates!

I started using Windows 11 with an HDMI connection, restored via the recovery mode, and everything is functioning smoothly now. I hope I can avoid using the HDR setting since I don’t want to accidentally enable it again.

I've faced more issues with the new self-takeover and update steps, which disrupted things from the Windows virus. Just remember to keep a restore point handy—it can really save you a lot of trouble. But I'm not great at preventing OS corruption when overclocking RAM, so I've had to reinstall my OS four times in a day. It's like watching paint dry:-(
