Experiencing overheating issues with my Acer Nitro 5
Hey, I just purchased an Acer Nitro 5 laptop with i5-8300h, GTX 1050 (non TI), and 8GB RAM recently. I’ve faced some issues:
1) When playing games like Fortnite, RE 2 remake, or Far Cry 5, my CPU temperature spikes to around 100°C, hotter than the GPU. I’m unsure if this is normal and need better cooling. My cooling pad seems ineffective.
2) GPU usage stays below 40%. Could you help me understand why? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
1) Unless Acer provides software for it, you can't. Reducing graphics quality might help occasionally, but since it's a laptop, you're likely to face high temperatures.
2) This usually indicates the use of an integrated GPU instead of a dedicated one. Ensure the power cord is connected or power-saving mode is disabled.
You might consider disassembling it and applying higher-quality thermal paste, but initially try to keep it off a solid table using whatever supports you can find. If this isn't possible, it seems the device isn't breathing.
