I noticed this problem after installing a fresh copy of Windows and letting it update. Scanners like Malwarebytes and adwarecleaner aren't detecting anything.

What applications are loading when you boot up? I searched online and discovered a user discussion about unusual drivers that modify startup entries. All these driver sets appear to rely on updatre2.xml as their configuration file. Be sure to review your tasks in the task scheduler as well.

Check for "Driver Setup Utility" in Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features. If found, uninstall it, then delete C:\ProgramData\Acer\Updater2. Also, ensure C:\Program Files\DriverSetupUtility is removed.

Check the Task Scheduler for startup entries. The updater relies on this to execute setup automatically with admin rights, otherwise it would only work for the current user.

I believe the trigger might be from Task Scheduler. The command is scheduled to run every 30 minutes.
