I have two Intel Xeon X5690 processors with specs of 12M cache, 3.46 GHz, and 6.40 GT/s QPI. The latest firmware is installed, but I’m facing issues with the 1.16 version too. I’m using a GTX 1070 EVGA and Minecraft runs at around 50 FPS max on stock settings, 50 FPS with a 32x32 texture pack, and up to 50 FPS with BSL shaders. Only two cores are being utilized, yet the second X5690 seems to be doing full-core turbo. Some users report higher FPS without overclocking the chip online. Any advice?

Westmere received significant updates to address spectre and meltdown issues, but its performance hasn't improved much since then. It remains suitable for everyday tasks and basic gaming, yet it lags far behind modern single-core processors—especially for demanding games like Minecraft.

They also haven't played MC much and didn't remember that. Sodium might be worth trying, based on what my friends who play Minecraft say—it works better than Optifine. However, it doesn't support mods, so it's only helpful for vanilla versions.

Minecraft mainly relies on a single chat channel, which can be frustrating for slower systems. Consider adding Optifine to improve performance.

You're limited to using only Forge mods. Fabric comes with many mods, but most are Forge-only. Don't forget to add lithium and phosphor as well.

I turned off the Spectre and Meltdown fixes right after installing Windows to boost speed.
