Experiencing laggy frame rates when playing older titles.
Recently, I attempted to run some older titles and achieved an average frame rate of approximately 32 fps with *Dark Souls 2* and roughly 40 fps with *Alan Wake*. However, newer games such as *Monster Hunter World* maintained an average of around 57 frames per second on maximum settings. I previously updated my graphics drivers, and all tested games were played at a resolution of 1360 x 768. My system specifications are as follows:
FX 8300 @ 3.6 GHz
10 GB RAM
RX 480 with 8 GB VRAM
Corsair VS 450W power supply.
Thank you for your attention to this issue.
What is the brand and model of your motherboard? Verify that you are running the most recent BIOS version for it. Your power supply unit should not be configured for those particular specifications. Considering its age, approximately how long has your power supply unit been in use?
Graphics processing units eventually discontinue support for outdated video game methods following several years, which can result in older titles performing less optimally compared to more recent releases. Furthermore, Monster Hunter is generally considered a relatively simple game.
I have an ASRock 770ICAFE motherboard and am attempting to locate the most recent BIOS update online, but all server versions are unavailable; therefore, I installed version 1.9 (the current release) instead. My power supply unit is approximately four years old—is this a concern?
While it might not be the cause, exploring potential solutions for specific game issues by investigating whether older graphics cards have yielded improved results for others is a possibility.
