Experiencing issues with waking up from sleep.
I’m facing an issue with my PC waking up from sleep, often crashing into a BSOD with errors like 0x124 or kmode_exception_not_handled 0x1e. It’s hard to figure out what’s causing it. My system works fine when not in sleep and doesn’t crash to BSOD on a PSU power reduction. I’ve noticed that with my Ryzen 5 processor, problems might arise if the PSU drops power too low during sleep, making it unstable. Someone suggested changing the BIOS setting for idle power from automatic to typical current idle—should I try that? I’m not sure what those settings mean or how they affect performance.
Sleep on Windows appears to have significant issues. The WHEA_Uncorrectable_Error raises alarms since WHEA handles hardware errors. This architecture depends on the CPU’s self-monitoring and PCIe devices, with NVMe support managed via driver updates. For sleep problems, the NVMe/NVMe driver is likely the culprit. Open Event Viewer → Windows Logs → System, filter for Kernel-Power events linked to WHEA crashes. Sort by 'Level' to prioritize critical entries. Check the Details tab for BugCheckCode—typically 0x124 (decimal 292) appears there. Right-click and save it. Submit the .evtx file for further analysis.
The only information retrieved was a kernel power event 41 related to BugCheckCode, indicating a value of 30.
Kernel-Power count is 41 or sometimes 6008 depending on the context. The BugCheckCode should be 292, which comes from the WHEA BSOD. You must examine all Kernel-Power events since only certain BSODs are WHEA-related.
