Ah, my mistake about the 1.2GBps... I haven't delved into DOCSIS technology since moving away from that field. They're improving node segmentation, which is good, but it's a bigger project that might not be in the OPs scope. Still, you're sharing copper with others who can affect the signal. I've noticed dense areas where channel saturation affects signals up to 16x. Copper works well as a transmission medium, yet it remains prone to interference. It's hard to say how many times I've heard tales of people being flagged for signal issues because they connected a VCR backwards—less common now, but neighbors can definitely influence you.
Everyone there. I completely understand this. Still, I feel somewhat skeptical about Comcast's practices and how they're confusing customers. I'm fortunate enough to grasp most of what's going on since I work in tech. The current speeds are really low. Back then I was around 550-600 Mbps; now it's hovering near 380/410 Mbps. Here are my observations: Downstream settings – Locked QAM modulation, Channel ID, Frequency (MHz), Power (dBmV), Signal-to-Noise Ratio (dB). Key points: Locked QAM256 17 -1.6 38.1; Locked QAM256 3 -0.3 38.8; Locked QAM256 5 -1.7 38.7; etc. Upstream – Channel lock status, type, ID, and symbol rate (Ksym/sec). All numbers seem consistent with the trends I've seen before.
The QAM channels appear strong... I’m not familiar with OFDM details, though I’m curious about how SNR and power relate here. It seems the channel’s SNR is significantly higher than what QAM standards suggest, which often points to a problem. I’m not sure of the exact specifications, but it could indicate an issue.
Today an engineer arrived. It seems the coax cable had significant interference. He replaced them and performed well, though speeds remained similar. His XMT device reports 950MB/s, connected via the router—just like my other devices. This doesn’t make sense. The one desktop and four laptops I own are functioning normally.
