Experiencing difficulties with memory...
In short, I had a pair of Ripjaws 2 with 8GB each at 3200MHz running smoothly with D.O.C.P(xmp). Later I bought two Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB sticks at the same speed. The problem started when I tried to enable D.O.C.P in BIOS—it already showed 3200MHz, but kept stuck at 2133MHz no matter what. Here are some points for clarity:
- PC would turn on and off several times before the screen appeared, saying memory settings reset due to boot failure (occasionally fixed after exiting BIOS)
- RAM remained locked at 2133MHz
- In BIOS it showed Target Drm Frequency as 3200MHz, but stayed at 2133MHz
- I checked each RAM stick individually and all worked fine
- Updated BIOS using ASUS EZ Flash 3, reset BIOS to defaults, tried D.O.C.P again at 3200MHz
- Old RAM stayed at 2133MHz even after reinstalling
- CPU is Ryzen 5 2600MB
- SSD is Samsung 980 Pro, GPU is EVGA 3070
It seems the new RAM isn't working at 3200Mhz. I'll keep the two Corsair RAM modules in mind, but I need help fixing the original one.
