I just purchased Fallout 4 with all its DLC and after downloading, I opened the launcher. I mentioned setting high quality options and pressed play. My screen went black briefly before returning to my Steam library as if nothing happened. I’ve restarted my PC multiple times, updated Windows with the latest update, refreshed the GPU driver, and searched online without finding a solution. My system specs are: Windows 10 Home, Intel Core i5-4690 at 3.50GHz, two 4GB HyperX Fury GPUs, Asus GeForce GTX 1060, Z97S SliKRAIT motherboard (MS-7922). Fallout 4 is the newest version on Steam. Let me know if you have any other details to share.

Was this your initial setup for the game? Did any files appear during the first launch?

It seems you're unsure about a previous setup and want to confirm if it can be recreated. You mentioned verifying game files multiple times without triggering a first-time setup, which suggests the issue might be related to file integrity or configuration.

Inspect the primary Fallout 4 directory. Look for a _CommonRedist folder that holds DirectX and vcredist. If present, execute all setup files from there and retry.

I attempted to complete all the setup steps, but it didn't function properly.

It's working without any modifications and I simply stopped all the programs I could via Task Manager, although my PC still didn't function properly.

@Frankenburger if you have any additional suggestions I'd be eager to experiment with. Just think, it's a bleak time once the fallout clears.

I’m running low on fresh ideas. Checking online, some users found success using the configuration tool at the provided link, while others recommended running in a windowed fixed setup. At this stage, it seems the best approach is to rely on more recent searches.

During gameplay, the launcher should start first. Experimenting with graphics options might resolve the issue—something could be misconfigured or not recognized properly. Changing from DX11 to DX12 may help fix the problem.
