So my dad's old desktop is about four years old, and we've been having problems with it for roughly two years now. It originally came with a 6700 XT but it just stopped working completely about a week ago. At first it would turn on but wouldn't light up, there were no LEDs, and the fan didn’t move. I thought it might be a power supply issue, so I took it to a local shop to check if the PSU or the MOBO was the problem. They said it was the PSU, so he got a new one yesterday. I installed it today and tried running a game for a while—it worked fine. Then this morning it went back to being dead again. My guess is probably the power strip or brick is causing the issue, but I noticed other devices are all working perfectly. I’m also wondering if it’s the MOBO or something else I haven’t thought of. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.
Yeah then it's not that. Specs of the whole thing? And what PSU was installed/what's the new one? take pics if you're unsure ~
It's a Ryzen 3700X with a GTX980, ASRock B450-AM MOBO, 32GB Viber RGB RAM. The new power supply is a Corsair 650W gold. The previous one was a Coolermaster PSU with 500W capacity. We don’t have the old unit left. Besides that, we have a 1TB SSD and a 2TB hard drive.
