The issue seems to be XMP not launching properly. From what I read, the original poster's CPU worked fine without XMP enabled, but it stopped functioning afterward. Updating could potentially help, though removing Zen 2 support is unlikely. It might have been done to push users toward newer CPUs. Dropping Zen 1 probably served more as a marketing tactic to encourage upgrades on 500-series boards, as the CPU details occupy minimal space in the microcode and older boards rarely removed support for Zen 1 even if they supported Zen 3.
Hi, please confirm, I need to make sure I understand correctly. I never managed to boot with XMP enabled. When I manually set the clock to 3200MHz it works, but I experience occasional restarts while playing. Using auto mode seems to avoid this problem. What bothers me is that the CPU claims support for 3200MHz officially.
They had issues with XMP on that CPU. Reducing support from 1000 to 3000 was typical for budget boards with limited memory chips. Ryzen and memory compatibility have always been uncertain—sometimes XMP helps, other times it doesn't. What was the default RAM speed? Did you tweak the frequency and then restart, or did you enable XMP first, change the frequency later, and restart again?
They claim it doesn’t match what they expect, but most Zen 1/2 boards include a 16MB ROM for the BIOS. Many X370 models can run all AM4 chips up to Zen 3 while using only about 10MB of that space. It’s unclear why an A320 or an X570 with a larger chip wouldn’t have the same. Beyond CPU support for older boards, there seems to be little added value. This could easily be seen as a marketing tactic given AMD’s history.
With XMP on enabled doesn't let me adjust the frequency. I switched it off and made changes. After saving and restarting, I believe the default setting is 2666, though I'll verify this later.
