I recently assembled a new PC about two weeks ago using a 7800x3D. My friend also built a similar system with the same CPU and motherboard, but we’re both facing frustrating frame time spikes that cause stutters in all games. I’m looking for possible solutions. I’ve installed MSI Afterburner and confirmed the issue stems from frame time spikes. Expo is active in BIOS at 6000Hz, but turning it off didn’t help. I’ve tried Nvidia G-sync, disabling it and toggling it on/off, as well as capping frames during gameplay. Still nothing works. Below is the full build list.
It varies based on the game engine and your settings. With all titles, it seems your GPU might be struggling or similar issues as those reported with older 7800x3D CPUs. What resolution are you using?

I'm testing at 1080p with a brand-new setup. The CPU is brand new, temperatures stay around 38°C when idle and 68-72°C during gaming. I'm using Windows 10 from a fresh install and have checked GPU drivers through GeForce Experience and CPU chipset drivers via AMD Adrenaline. My BIOS version is F20a from the Gigabytes site for my motherboard. The 3070 felt smooth compared to the 8700k, so I suspect a CPU problem since my friend on a similar build with an RX 7700 XT also has issues.
Major error. Use DDU drivers and reinstall from the official NVIDIA website directly—avoid installing GeForce Experience.
Frames appear as sudden jumps between roughly 8.0 and 72.0 with no drop in frame rate. This data comes from Valorant.
Switch to performance mode in the Nvidia control panel. It makes a small difference.
