Hello, I recently attempted an update to Windows 11 Pro 24H2 using Windows Update. The process didn’t go as smoothly as I had hoped. Overall, everything appears to function correctly. However, I occasionally encounter strange delays while scrolling in Google Chrome and while watching videos in both Chrome and a local player (mpv). These interruptions are intermittent. I examined Task Manager and HWINFO64 in search of clues, but found nothing revealing. Task Manager shows no unusual activity or spikes. HWINFO64 reports no throttling on CPU/GPU speed or other errors like WHEA. It seems normal, matching the behavior when the stutters aren’t present. To confirm whether the update caused the issue, I reverted to Windows 23H2. The interruptions disappeared completely. Within a 24-hour period, there were no stutters at all. Scrolling stayed smooth in Chrome, and videos played without random pauses. I suspected the problem stemmed from the 24H2 release. It’s unclear exactly what it’s doing, but it seems to be affecting my system negatively. Interestingly, when I switched to Firefox and scrolled there, the stutters vanished entirely. The issue appears to be specific to Chrome and 24H2. The mpv player, which isn’t linked to Chrome, also exhibited the same problem. This suggests the trouble lies between Chrome and the newer version. It’s puzzling why only mpv shows this behavior, but it’s definitely impacting my experience. I’m considering a clean installation of 24H2 via a bootable USB drive, though that didn’t resolve the issue. The stutters have since stopped since I switched back to 23H2 (about 12 hours ago). On 24H2 they should have disappeared by now. Have others encountered similar issues? Do you have any insight into what might be causing this? It seems clear that 24H2 is the culprit, though I’m unsure of its exact impact.

Are you sure you require 24H2 right now? Many users have shared issues with it on various systems, and I wouldn’t upgrade until Microsoft fixes the problems.

I'm not sure what's going on, but it seems like something unusual is happening. After checking my laptop (with an i7 8750H, GTX 1050Ti and 16GB RAM), there were no big problems. The only odd thing is that the display calibration resets when the laptop wakes up from sleep—once you go to the calibrate display page, the profile comes back on. Overall, it's running smoothly except for that behavior. I was hoping my desktop would be fine since it usually updates without issues. I'll give it another try before deciding.

It simply showed up during the Windows update. My computer received the update roughly four to five days prior to the one for my desktop.

I’d prefer to wait just to confirm everything runs smoothly and nothing will disrupt the system.

Decided to try updating again since it's been a while since I last tried (several months). Unfortunately, the issue is still there. I wish I knew what was causing this issue. I guess it is never getting fixed since I cannot troubleshoot the issue. There's nothing to go on. Everything looks fine on monitoring tools whilst the stutters occur. The stutters are happening so something must be going on when they occur, question is what?

Attempted another update to 24H2 to see if it improves things. It appears slightly better, but I still experience these odd stutters in both Google Chrome and mpv. They seem less frequent now and don’t last as long, though it’s hard to say for sure because the problem happens randomly and rarely.
