Searching for feedback on Nvidia Gamestream streaming PC games to Shield TV. Noticing possible impact on performance or 4K quality, and welcome any thoughts. Thanks, TidaLWaveZ

I've never had any issues with gamestream, just a stable internet connection and a computer that can handle streaming.

No, there hasn't been a noticeable drop in frame rate.

I maintain a consistent 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second.

I initially used the first Nvidia shield and streaming from the grid performed excellently, but playing from my PC didn't meet expectations. This might have been due to my own setup—my PC was wireless or connected via PLA, and I recently added an external data extension. Overall, the experience was around 7 out of 10; it was responsive enough to play FPS games and win firefights, though occasional stuttering was noticeable. After selling the device, I regret not having made that purchase. The frame rate stayed steady, and in console mode it reached 1080p at 60 fps. I highly recommend it.

In reality... I might purchase a shield next month, okay? I was thinking about a console, but a Steam link or shield seems more appealing to me.

I already have the Shield TV, but I missed the chance to stream games. I purchased 1080p around a week after its release and had to sell them for bills, rent, deposit on a new apartment, and tire replacements. After that, I bought a 4K TV and my graphics cards are on the way. I’ve been excited to play games at 4K since getting it. I really like the Shield, so I canceled my TV service and now use Kodi, Netflix, or YouTube instead. Without a strong GPU, GeForce Now has been my main gaming option for the past 4-5 months.

The main issue was playing CSGO with friends, which limited my use of the game. I used it rarely, even during P90 rushes. I’m considering getting it back and wondering if GeForce is now a bit improved. Mostly I played Lego games and some older titles that didn’t interest me much, which wasn’t great. Make sure you have a strong connection to both the shield and your PC—especially important since I work in telecoms and don’t want to waste time troubleshooting at home. Some games with DRM, like GTA, still have workarounds.

Geforce now looks quite different, isn't it? It offers a decent selection of free games for members, though most are a bit old. I wouldn't want to commit to a monthly fee—I'm still on the three-month trial with the shield, and once my cards expire, I probably won't use it again. Maybe what caught my attention was that it actually functioned well and had a good library to keep me engaged.

I think I’ll still manage to get one, but I expected it to be a bit high. You mentioned a decent selection but it’s a bit over the price at £8.99? The Origin access is only £3.99, which seems like a much better option. I’m a bit sad I already have the pricier ones, though—I forgot to cancel grid/geforce and ended up paying for it for about a year. Make sure you cancel it, haha. They refunded me 2 or 3 months, which was nice. I’m curious if I’d get another 3-month trial, probably not. Not that I really care since I’m not into playing Batman... again lol.
