The system has been experiencing sudden crashes recently, starting about a year ago. After updating the BIOS from version 1404 to 3202 and adding a new Samsung 990 Pro graphics card, the issues have intensified. There seems to be no clear link between these changes and the crashes, which now occur during gameplay or when idle on the computer or internet. I reviewed the Windows event logs, but found some error codes without a corresponding cause.
It's tough to pinpoint the problem first. You should examine how your PC handles stability tests using tools like CPU-Z, Cinebench, OCCT, Memtest86, etc. Check if crashes occur during heavy CPU use, when RAM is stressed, and so on. Typically, crashes are often due to software problems such as malware or bloatware, or issues with CPU voltage control. If stress testing with Cinebench reveals a blue screen or freeze, adjust your BIOS settings and lower the core voltage to a safe level for your CPU. If that doesn't resolve it, consider a clean OS installation to test further. These are my current thoughts, but I'm not sure if anyone else can assist without seeing your hardware.
I previously experienced a BSOD during setup of my first rig last year. All parts were brand new and freshly installed on Windows 11. After running a disk check via Command Prompt, the random BSOD issue disappeared. This solution might not solve every problem, but it’s worth trying. The process takes about 25 minutes and automatically fixes itself, so do it when you’re not using the PC.
Step 1: Launch Command Prompt with administrator privileges
Step 2: Execute the command: chkdsk /f /r /x c: *replace with your drive letter if needed*
Step 3: If prompted by background tasks, type "Y" to proceed after restart
Step 4: Wait for completion and restart your system
