In short, I changed my PC from the Ryzen 5 3600 to the Ryzen 9 5900X, swapped the stock cooler for the NZXT Kraken X63, and upgraded the case to the Lian Li Lancool II Mesh RGB. My other components remain the same. When I powered on, the BIOS triggered an overheating warning for the CPU, which shut down immediately. The fans didn’t function, and the thermal paste appeared to be uneven. After rechecking connections and replacing the pump, the fans ran quieter but the CPU still overheated. I noticed the RGB lights worked again and the noise decreased slightly. The ambient temperature in my apartment is around 34°C due to the summer heat. In the motherboard's BIOS, navigate to the fan curve for the header connected to the pump and adjust it to maximum power. It seems the block isn't circulating water efficiently enough. The X63 isn't an ideal water cooler—it's decent but not great for a 5900X. The fans on the radiator working hard likely point to either loose mounting pressure (check tightness, not too tight) or pump issues. Try setting the radiator fans to 100% and see if that improves things. Where is your radiator positioned relative to your CPU? Have you cleared any air bubbles from the pump?
I believe I found the issue. The pump wire connecting to the header seems damaged. During testing, I connected the pump to CPU_FAN 1 and the fans to AIO_PUMP 1, which is the opposite setup. In the original arrangement, I checked the BIOS fan settings and noticed: CPU: 0 RPM PUMP: 800 (or similar) RPM. After swapping the cables, the readings changed to CPU: 800 (or similar) RPM and PUMP: 0 RPM. This confirms the pump cable is faulty. It also explains why the radiator fans function while the RGB stays off, plus the radiator being mounted in a push-in position. To check for air bubbles inside the pump, you can visually inspect it or use a vacuum cleaner to clear any debris.
