Expected requirements for Grand Theft Auto: V on PC
We all understand now that Grand Theft Auto: V is set to launch this autumn, yet PC enthusiasts may not be aware of the system needs for playing this compelling title. Here’s what I’m sharing. Max Payne 3 came out in 2012. Visually, the two games share quite a bit of graphics style, with Grand Theft Auto: V built using Rockstar’s Advanced Game Engine (often called the RAGE Engine). Their physics systems also align closely. This similarity in design suggests that the requirements for Grand Theft Auto: V should match those of Max Payne 3 (see below).
PC System Specifications:
- **Lowest Tested Specs:** Windows 7/Vista/XP (32 or 64-bit), Intel Dual Core 2.4 GHz or AMD Dual Core 2.6 GHz, or better 2GB RAM.
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT with 512MB RAM or AMD Radeon HD 3400 with 512MB RAM.
- **Recommended Specs:** Windows 7/Vista/XP (32 or 64-bit), Intel Dual Core 3GHz or AMD equivalent with 3GB RAM.
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 450 with 512MB RAM or AMD Radeon HD 4870 with 512MB RAM.
- **High Tested Specs:** Windows 7/Vista (32 or 64-bit), Intel i7 Quad Core at 2.8GHz or AMD equivalent with 3GB RAM.
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 with 2GB RAM or AMD Radeon HD 7970 with 3GB RAM.
Additional Needs:
- Hard Drive Space: 35 GB
- Sound Card: Must support Direct X 9.0 and Dolby Digital Live
The game offers a deeper experience compared to Max Payne 3, with higher demands particularly in rendering range and detail preservation.
if this is the case, even my dang laptop can run it no problem. ( I run max payne 3 smoothly) however chances are that somethings might change a little. since the game is open world and has more going on.
It's unlikely GTA V will run smoothly with just 2GB of RAM, even on a dual-core processor. The same applies to its graphics requirements. Games matching those specs likely won't run GTA IV even after updates. Mantle support remains uncertain, with the latest info suggesting AMD-only development and no confirmed titles.
It seems the conditions might be quite demanding. Would you like me to adjust them?
Max Payne 3 received some improvements and performed well across various platforms, though it was developed by a different team. RockStar hasn't produced a solid PC version in years, and GTA V is likely to face similar challenges. The main chance for success would be if the upcoming console hardware closely mirrors PC specs but remains underpowered, offering a better chance for smooth operation on budget systems. However, I believe it may struggle significantly on a wide range of different machines.
I'm looking forward to having presets available. It would really simplify things. I've spent a lot of time adjusting the IV's menu settings, so having presets would be a big help. Regarding requirements, it might seem straightforward on paper but could put a strain on your computer unless they optimize well. I think it would perform better if it wasn't a console port, such as MP3.
