I've seen a couple topics here and around online that show similar memory kits by corsair can reach some really high overclocks. But i can't find anything specific on this kit of ram which seems to have tighter timings out of the box compared to even other corsair Cl16 kits. Out of box this kit runs 3600mhz, 16-18-18-36. I'm upgrading from a 3200 16 gig kit so 3600 32 gigs stock speeds will be a nice upgrade for me. But is there any hope of pushing them to 3800 mhz?
The performance of a RAM upgrade depends mainly on the memory chips inside and (to some extent) the board design. Unless you purchase a pre-verified kit, it will use the most affordable option available that day. However, Corsair memory bins often vary greatly; some standard bins are actually reserved for specific dies. Since it operates at 1.4 volts, it restricts the selection to a few chip types, mostly Samsung B die, Hynix DJR, Micron Rev E, and Micron Rev B. All these should support 3800MHz easily, with most reaching over 4000MHz. A benefit of Corsair is that you can identify the chip by reading the version number on the label—such as "v4.31" or "v3.41". The first digit shows the manufacturer (3 = Micron, 4 = Samsung, 5 = Hynix), the second indicates the capacity (2^n based on the number written, meaning 3 means 8GB), and the third is the exact die type (0 = A die, 1 = B die, etc.). This lets you determine which chip the kit targets and how it can be overclocked.
