You're experiencing occasional crashes while running many mods in Skyrim. It sounds like the instability might be related to the heavy modding, which is common but can still cause issues. Many players report similar problems, so it's not unusual. Keep playing and monitoring your experience—if it keeps happening, it might be worth discussing with others who have modded games.

It's normal for some changes to conflict, even if they seem odd. I used W.A.T.E.R. and an HD rug mod together, but it caused all the water effects to look bad.

At some stage, fixing crashes becomes impossible. Skyrim isn't completely reliable either.

The Skyrims engine isn’t perfect, and even a few modifications can cause it to behave strangely. There’s nothing you can do to fix it completely—unfortunately, it’s much worse than modding Fallout 4. Without changes, you’ll likely face crashes every couple of hours. With mods, you might get the game running for a short time before another crash hits. The game also runs poorly on average hardware, often delivering very low frame rates.

I own a top-tier system, a GTX 970 paired with an i5 4690k. I've only tried a handful of titles, but everything runs smoothly and looks great, so the hardware seems to be handling it well.

Experiencing crashes and excessive mod usage. Issues are likely to worsen as I play longer, over 40 hours. Need to reduce the number of mods.

It varies based on the mods and their count. However, with a heavily modded Skyrim, you can anticipate crashes roughly every five minutes.
