I'll examine the Startech 4 Port SATA 6Gbps PCIe Controller Card (4P6G-PCIE-SATA-CARD). Based on my experience, these are generally reliable products.

For a NAS setup, particularly using ZFS, use a genuine HBA. You can find Dell h310 units on eBay, pre-flashed to IT mode with SAS to SATA cables for around fifty dollars. These are enterprise-level devices and function correctly without any changes to the direct access of the drives: https://www.ebay.com/itm/194910024856?mk...media=COPY What is your NAS? Operating system. Total number of drives? Etc

Thanks for the quick reply. The build notes mention two HDDs for parity and an SSD for caching. I’ll be using Unraid as planned.
