It's confusing why they create content for consoles first and then adapt it for PC. I thought the other way around would make more sense, allowing a polished PC game to be optimized for different platforms. What are your thoughts? Are you feeling confused or surprised?

Indeed! I hope IF they eventually port Destiny to PC it won't be really bad. Apparently GTA IV had a horrid PC port.

Agreed, but companies often pay developers to secure the top version for consoles so they can showcase it at events like E3 and attract more buyers. Recently, the trend seems to be shifting, as PC is reaching its highest market share with a larger gamer base than Xbox and PS combined. These developers will likely adapt quickly to the growing demand from over twice as many players. They may eventually stop pushing console releases and focus on PC first. Don’t give up just yet!

This post contains a confusing title. Initially, I imagined it referring to standard computer connections such as USB, HDMI, VGA, etc. Then I realized the question was about why people dislike these types of ports. It seems somewhat exaggerated.

The market size remains limited, and it hasn't shifted in many developers' minds—focus stays on the PC side. Change is happening gradually, but you should avoid pursuing opportunities when cash flow is scarce.

Ubisoft claimed Watch Dogs was optimal on PC. Even with superior visuals, it ran sluggish, had many bugs, and felt nearly impossible to play at launch. It’s clear when publishers exaggerate about port availability. The downside is that most strategy or simulation titles rarely make the switch to consoles. We might have poor versions, but there’s always a wealth of mods available. For instance, GTA 4 has a huge community of modders—Iron Man was particularly popular on YouTube.

Creating PC versions is more challenging. Adding superior graphics or animations raises expenses too. It makes sense why some developers release the game for PC only later. Still, I find it bothersome.

Many excellent strategy games exist. The Total War series, Civilization, Planetary Annihilation, Star Craft 2, CnC Generals 2, or any other name they changed, was originally intended to be terrible. It would be perfect if only they recreated the original generals. I keep playing it even now.

That sparked an idea—perhaps I could turn it into a project. Noticing I could simply paste content from generals and tweak the visuals.
