Executing the game on a mini-ITX setup
Well, after the confusion is resolved, it seems a single 980 could handle the game. The goal was to encourage some thought and discussion, so I’m curious about how well it would perform. Would it require overclocking, especially with the full release?
My 970 delivers at 1080p, any other purchase will surpass my Mobo and CPU... Indeed, you can definitely choose a compact form factor 970 (not the Gigabyte G1, for instance) and you'll be in good shape.
My 980 is playing the game smoothly on stock settings. I use Medium because it's Alpha, but I'm seeing around 60 fps on average. I'm confident a 980 will work well at launch too. Still, it's tough to predict right now. A released title should be more optimized, so maybe even a 970 (which isn't broken) could handle it. Regardless of the max settings, it's hard to say since we can't adjust all the options right now.
Single 970 works well with 1080p. My unit is damaged and still functions at least at 30 fps even under heavy stress. With AC 1.0.1 and driver 347.25, VRAM usage stays under 3.4 GB. Right now it’s just as it should be. Likely there are many debugging scripts running in the background, some optimizations aren’t fully implemented, and new features are added later. That means we can’t make a definitive judgment yet. An ITX configuration should be acceptable, but the final performance will depend on CIG tuning and your target resolution per pixel.
Take a look at my primary rig. It's an mITX setup with SC running smoothly. It works perfectly as long as you choose the right parts for that compact design. Note: I haven't seen you around before—great to meet you! Welcome to the fleet (if you haven't been welcomed yet). Edited January 30, 2015 by isHypnophobic
I believe I've shared a few items previously, probably a long time ago.
Hey there! I noticed you might have forgotten my posts—didn’t see your updates. Which vessels are you currently operating or preparing to operate?
