Hello, I'm trying to install Steam using Winebottler on my M2 Macbook Air. I'm encountering errors and a debug log file named Steam_install.log. Could you help me figure out what to do next?

The log indicates a CPU type mismatch in the executable, likely due to an x86 executable running on an ARM Mac. It suggests using a virtual machine instead.

Review the Game Porting toolkit from Apple and related projects. As it stands, ARM Windows apps work, though Steam isn't among them.

The updated version of VMware Workstation is available now. It seems you might need more than 8GB of RAM.

I don't own a Mac and haven't used one before, yet the warning you're seeing is obvious—it's not working with your CPU type. The Winebottler site doesn't seem updated since Mojave and doesn't reference Apple Silicon support. From what I've tried, Mac OS is really poor at backward compatibility. You'll need a current project. Recently Apple released a dev kit that mixes WINE with their own graphics, marking a significant improvement for Mac gaming. I'd look into https://getwhisky.app/ and maybe check out https://www.reddit.com/r/macgaming/
