The path outlines steps to omit certain files, but you're referring to directories? HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Exclusions\Paths HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Exclusions\Extensions If the Defender already blocks something by default and won't let you undo it, I'd think changing the registry settings won't fix it. It will just return to normal after a restart.
