You and your pals should give Assetto Corsa a try—it looks great and performs well these days, though it can be tricky to control with a console.

I enjoy watching F1 matches, but I wouldn't suggest F1 2014. It's just a rebranded version with updated engine noises. No new graphics, no mechanical improvements, and no changes to the user interface—just fresh car designs and audio tweaks. It feels like a copycat. If you're into single-seater racing, try F1 2013 instead. Don't let anyone trick you into spending money on something that doesn't match the original spirit. All the F1 codemasters titles are solid, but be careful not to overpay for a version that's more marketing than gameplay. Most racers are excellent, but avoid the Colin McRae Steam port—it's not the classic PS2 experience.

Absolutely, that's a solid suggestion. If you're after an F1 game, go with F1 2013.

The Horizon games are also great if you prefer open world/street racing to tracks. I've had a lot of fun in both of those games! I'd avoid pretty much all the newer NFS games. If you want something you can just dick around with, Burnout Paradise is EPIC and still holds up well after all this time (and has been free on both steam and origin in the past!). The Dirt and Grid series' of games are also great looking and fun to play. Dirt 3 and Grid 2 are my picks from those since they offer great lists of cars and good number of tracks to have fun on. I don't get on so well with sims that are super deep. I love the console racers like Forza and GT but games like Asseto Corsa and rFactor just intimidate me since I'm not into setup/tuning of cars and I feel like those games require a lot of prep before you race which is great if you like that kind of thing.
