This update might have appeared before, but I’m really impressed now. Ubisoft is bringing Heroes 3 in HD for Windows, iOS, and Android. The planned launch date is January 29, 2015. For me, this was the first game I ever played—and it’s likely still my favorite. I’m looking forward to a higher resolution version that should support newer operating systems instead of the older XP version, avoiding the 3D issues that affected other titles. At least for now, Ubisoft seems to have moved on from revisiting old classics. What are your best memories of this game? How do you feel about companies bringing back old favorites?

It doesn't require any changes at all—just a cleaner look. This is really important to me; I saw it a few days ago and I'm desperate for it. I really need it. Heroes 3 had the best positive elements, and this will make it even better. Don't mind me, I'd pay 20 euros for this.

Absolutely, I see what you mean—it's great overall except for those unexpected shutdowns.

Never experienced any issues on my system (used during vacations on a decent HP530 with a 1.6GHz Celeron, essentially a 2006 notebook).

Received the original from GoG.com... I believe I’ll skip this one.

It has already been demonstrated that many of the promised graphical improvements are actually just high-res versions of existing assets. The city updates were intended to be modest, but they’re being compared to low-quality images. Resolution support is more than one option, though a mod exists for that. The Heroes 3 collection available on GOG works smoothly on modern systems and even installs without issues on playonlinux in Linux. A resolution mod can also be added to Linux. The HD remake lacks expansions such as Armageddon's Blade and The Shadows of Death, and it likely won’t handle popular mods like Horn Of the Abyss or In The Wake of Gods. Perhaps the developers should update the mods to match the new version. It seems Ubisoft is trying to profit from a well-loved title with little effort.

It's great to hear you're satisfied with Ubisoft's acquisition of HoMM. They've been struggling to improve it, so instead of investing in real development, they're focusing on releasing an HD remake with uPlay and charging $40. Once that's done, they'll likely stop supporting the original IP. Keep up the good work!
