Hey everyone, This will be quite a technical post about a not really reproducible issue but whatsoever... So I own a Lenovo S145IIL laptop (a 2019 model). I bought it without OS in 2020 Spring and installed Windows. It is sitting on my desk most of the times being powered on for days or even for weeks. Normally it is idling with fans almost off but sometimes rarely I observed the fans spinning up continuously when idle. I opened up task manager to see no CPU usage. I didn't understand this so just left it whatever... Then I switch to Linux early 2021 and in Linux eg. the 'top' command line tool gave more info about CPU usage. When this fans spinning up while idle thing happened I saw 10% CPU use for 'hardware interrupts' only. Now this is a 4 core 8 threads CPU so when this things happens, most likely independent from the OS (could never confirm it but) one of the 8 logical CPU cores is being saturated and fully consumed by hardware interrupts without any user space or even kernel mode CPU use consequences. A reboot or a power-off -> power-on cycles do not resolve this most of the times; but a power-off -> tap the thouchpad to show battery state -> power-on cycles resolve it many times after one or two tries. I suspect a bug in some motherboard firmware. I do not expect anyone to give me a fix but has anyone met with any similar problems? Does anyone know about any software that can give insight to these raw hardware interrupts, to see what laptop component is to blame?
