I checked the situation carefully given the current energy costs and performance goals. I looked at my rig—5900X running at 210W max, with PBO, boosted frequencies, and temperature settings between -15 and -30°C. After adjusting the power limits, I cut it down to around 120W, kept TDC and EDC stable, and lowered GPU usage to 84%. Technically, if everything ran at full capacity, power dropped from 530W to 390W—a 20% reduction. That’s a noticeable saving, especially since my CPU rarely exceeded 100W during gaming. Interestingly, performance stayed stable or even improved slightly in single-thread tasks, with only a minor drop in gaming FPS (around 10%). The CPU clock speed reached a higher max of 5150MHz at full power compared to 4975MHz under load. Temperatures stayed low (-10°C on both CPU and GPU), which is good for longevity. I’m still within EDC limits, but I’m considering raising TDC a bit. Overall, the trade-off seems reasonable—better efficiency without sacrificing too much speed. Anyone else facing similar challenges?
