I am acquiring components for a new computer setup, and a key element recently arrived: the keyboard. It's a Red Dragon K552, and it’s affordable, well-constructed, and notably noisy.

I need to return it before it causes significant frustration for my spouse.

Could you suggest some respectable, non-mechanical (silent) affordable gaming keyboards? I’ve been searching for options, but it appears that alternatives to mechanical models are either of poor design or excessively costly.

The problem is that you selected the incorrect switch type for a more subdued typing experience. Consider using this alternative, specifically designed for mechanical keyboards offering a quieter operation: https://www.amazon.com/Velocifire-Mechan...tches&th=1

Could you suggest some suitable, non-mechanical (silent) budget gaming keyboards? I’ve been searching for options, but it appears that alternatives to mechanical keyboards are either poorly constructed or costly.

If my financial constraints weren’t a factor, I would suggest the Razer Cynosa Chroma ($60 USD). It has a pleasant tactile feel – particularly with the spacebar – and boasts stunning illumination.

I encountered the identical issue – I cherished the K552, but those sharp blues nearly led to a separation!
I donated it to a close acquaintance and subsequently acquired this board, the
GoFreeTech TKL featuring low-profile brown switches.

If you're someone who aggressively strikes keys, the bottoming out will still produce a noticeable sound, so if that’s your situation, consider obtaining a set of o-rings such as
these.

I completely overlooked that initially – a suitable concept, but the inherent clicking sound from the blue switches is the primary source of noise.

You can achieve silence with two primary approaches: either utilizing mechanical switches, devoid of the characteristic "click," or employing a membrane keyboard—such as the AmazonBasics K690 gaming keyboard that my son uses, featuring illumination and a tactile response he enjoys. Despite receiving mixed feedback, he’s been pleased with it for more than a year.

There’s a problem with the keyboard you selected, as it wasn't suitable for quieter operation. We recommend trying this alternative designed specifically for mechanical keyboards and offering a more subdued typing experience: https://www.amazon.com/Velocifire-Mechan...tches&th=1
