Excel on a CPU? Yes, it runs smoothly with modern processors.
Hello everyone, I'm planning to upgrade my desktop or laptop soon. I might sell both and get a portable laptop for better mobility during work. Most of my tasks involve Excel, so I'm curious about what CPU configuration gives the best performance—single-core speed or multiple cores? From what I've seen, the FX 6300 on my desktop feels more responsive in Excel compared to the laptop's 6200u. Also, does anyone know if SSD speed or type impacts Excel performance? I've noticed smoother scrolling with large sheets on the desktop, but I think that's mainly due to the dedicated GPU. I'm grateful Excel works well across systems, but any improvements in speed would really help me. Thanks!
You can achieve strong performance in Excel by upgrading to a solid-state drive and using a processor with at least four cores.
Upgrade or reformat your old laptop. It should support running Excel.
