I’m experiencing significant frame increases, jumping from the 70s all the way up to 160. My original frame cap was 120 and it never exceeded that. However, today it exceeds it, leading to screen tearing. I overclocked my monitor to 144 to prevent the tearing, which helped because my system can’t go beyond 4K. In loading screens, it reaches about 160, which is the highest I’ve seen. It quickly switches between rates without staying long. The only recent change was boosting my RAM’s clock speed to avoid BSODs.

Begin by eliminating the overclocking. Have the complete system specifications handy would be helpful.

The performance might slow down with 1440p resolution. A single byte at 1080p would be minimal. Need the newest AMD BIOS and chipset drivers? Which monitor is best? What GPU vBIOS version is current? I also suggest testing CPU speed with Cinebench R23 and running a free 3DMark Firestrike demo on Steam to see how your system stacks up against others.

I revised my profile information. No changes were made to the overclocking settings.

I'm doing a 4K build. Everything looks current on Armory Crate and my system runs smoothly. I have the latest version. My Extreme Time Spy score is 10,272, a bit lower than the 10,313 it was when I first set up without these frame problems.

Armory Crate creates problems, so it's best to avoid having it installed. Removing it needs a tool from Asus (found on the motherboard section) and adjusting settings in BIOS. Simply deleting it in Windows won't fix the underlying issues. The slight performance drop you notice is usually due to additional background applications like drivers, services, or tools.
