I subscribe to Xfinity with 100mbps internet. My average download speed is around 400kbps, and upload is about 15mbps, whether I'm using Wi-Fi or Ethernet. It's the same across both connections. Why am I not getting at least 20mbps? I'm feeling frustrated and prefer to handle it myself instead of reaching out to Comcast for a fix.
Connect your gadget to the router using a wired connection and check the performance once more. Should the speeds remain poor, reach out to your internet service provider.
It seems there could be interference from the cable wire leading to your modem. The higher frequency bands used by Comcast overlap with LTE signals and broadcast TV. Damage to the wire or connector in your home or at the pole might disrupt your download speeds. To confirm, check the modem’s diagnostic pages for persistent uncorrectable errors on specific channels. Another chance is scheduled maintenance, which could temporarily remove certain channels.
