Examen de l'architecture informatique
Hello everyone, I'm preparing a school project on technology and need to assess whether the IT setup at the hotel is adequate or if improvements are needed. Since I'm not very familiar with things like firewalls, switches, or routers, I'd appreciate someone reviewing it and offering suggestions. The hotel is called 25hours Hotel The Circle in Cologne, Germany, with 8 floors and 207 rooms. I've attached the IT structure diagram for clarity. Any advice would be really helpful!
The diagram may not clearly show only three access points, which could cause problems. The Unifi AC-Pro can handle more than 100 clients, but three seems insufficient for an eight-story building. Signals through walls and floors will likely be weak. Even if the hotel is fully booked at two guests per room (about 400 people), that’s a significant challenge. According to the UAP-AC-Pro specs, this exceeds the expected capacity, and ignoring signal issues makes it even more concerning. The slow website on mobile devices points strongly to Wi-Fi problems. While the switches and router are decent, connectivity and range will be the main concerns. Updating could involve moving to a cloud-based website and email service—cloud solutions offer better speed and reliability. Hosting in the cloud also improves availability and reduces management tasks like OS maintenance or power monitoring. Storage options depend on internet quality; fast connections allow offsite storage, easing capacity limits. If internet is slow or unreliable, keeping data locally makes sense. Overall, transitioning to a cloud setup would simplify operations, cut network strain, and future-proof the hotel’s infrastructure.
