Hello. I’m just getting started with PC building and recently began a project but didn’t finish it. I purchased an EVGA Z370 motherboard and wanted to install the Intel i5 9600K, but I read it requires a BIOS update. I’m unsure whether I can return the board for a BIOS flash (due to pandemic restrictions) or if I should just buy a cheaper CPU for the update. I saw an Intel Celeron G4900 and wasn’t sure about its compatibility, or if there are other options that would be easier to replace. Appreciate the advice!
Based on your purchase timing, the board may include a suitable BIOS by default. It’s best to get the 9600K first, and if issues arise, visit nearby computer stores (if open during COVID) to check for BIOS updates at a lower cost than buying a new CPU.
