You can examine second-hand components too, which is a great method for securing more value for your budget. For instance, a 270x for $10 additional on eBay.

I don't believe it's necessary to list windows... I just didn't know if he had them. It turns out he does.

It's also a solid choice, but if you're on a tighter budget, I'd recommend the R9 270 for $20 more. It's definitely worth the investment and offers better performance compared to the PS4, while the 260 doesn't quite match up.

This was nearly identical to the build I shared in the planning and building forum, just with a different motherboard.

This setup looks solid, but you could potentially reduce RAM usage. I'm not sure if 1866MHz is essential, particularly with that processor... and a B85 board wouldn't be ideal either. The H81 should work fine.

It seems you're considering these options, but for a small price like $6, the Muskins look promising... http://pcpartpicker.com/p/yhvXFT

I don’t mind what others think, but at $400, a PS4 offers a better gaming experience. You can usually find a PC for that price, though it will likely run at lower settings than the console can handle.

I own a PS3 and don’t need a PS4. I usually don’t spend $60 per game since I can wait for Steam sales and get 15 games for $60.

I have many Steam games I can't play right now. If I get this, I could run them again. But if I switch to PS4, I'd have to start over with the games on that platform. Don't play on it.

None of these suggestions came up in the original message. I was looking for a better balance between current and future gameplay. If you have older titles that run on a basic gaming PC, that’s fine. However, if you’re considering upgrades, think about compatibility and long-term value. Don’t spend a lot on cheap parts just to cover 400 dollars. A mid-range AMD processor with a good upgrade path works well—so you can later swap in a better CPU when you have the budget. For older games, a decent graphics card from Craigslist could be a good fit.
