I understand the ambition, but based on what I've observed so far—especially my limited exposure—I think it comes across as fairly average. Just keep in mind that I've only seen Gary Oldman's speech, which might not fully represent the whole picture.
What an ambitious question! 😄 It sounds like you're curious about the depth and scope of a subforum. Let's dive in! Are you asking about its goals, community, or something else?
I thought I could convey everything, but I recommend checking the site and watching more. It looks like you were hoping to experience the full scope of Star Citizen through a single film focused on one actor in Squadron 42. Start with the stretch goals at https://robertsspaceindustries.com/funding-goals. It's still in pre-alpha, so nothing is final yet. Your view of it being mediocre might be fair given its early stage, but it has potential and will improve significantly. It promises to set a new standard for games. You’ll see.
What are you referring to? You didn’t mention it clearly, and I have no idea about this excitement you’re talking about. Ohhhhh, star citizen, (lol it’s the subforum) yes, there’s a lot of hype there. If it doesn’t meet that level, kickstarters will probably disappear. Edited October 28, 2015 by AresKrieger
Oops, looks like you meant something else. Could you clarify what you're referring to?
Basic common sense tip #1: Verify the subforum or any other indicator on the page first before jumping to conclusions or making assumptions. Also, be wary of other users posting just to boost their numbers without a real reason. @ Longshot Regarding cinematic, it’s not unique but still valuable during the alpha phase. It mainly serves as a showcase for a casting shot of Gary Oldman and a basic example of facial mocap. So it’s neither excellent nor terrible without polish. As for the actual game, you need to check live demos of the PU or observe ship combat. Concerning special features, this is the only space sim that doesn’t mimic atmospheric flight. That alone is a solid point since Elite Dangerous lacks that level of physics. For gameplay, it’s still too early to form a clear opinion.
