Hello, I'm using an OS Windows 11 on a MOBO-Gigabyte B650M DS3H with BIOS version FA5c. My HyperX PulseFire Core is wired and works fine when I connect it to the mouse via USB. However, whenever I enter BIOS and click any option, the mouse freezes even though my keyboard functions properly. If I plug in or remove the mouse from the USB port (any port), the mouse operates normally in BIOS until I restart the PC and log back in. After that, if I restart again and log into Windows, the mouse freezes once more when I click something in BIOS. But if I never log into Windows and restart before doing so, the mouse works perfectly without freezing. I've tried all USB ports—front panel, back panel, USB 2/3, USB 3, USB 3.2—and still face this problem.

My keyboard remains functional in BIOS even though it's connected wirelessly. Also, when the mouse gets stuck in BIOS after a restart, it unfreezes without needing to unplug it from the USB port. I've uninstalled HyperX NGenuity software and still have the same issue. I updated my BIOS from FA4 to FA5c but it didn't fix the problem.

I checked Device Manager, removed all HID-Compliant Mouse drivers, reset the mouse, restarted the PC, and reconnected it at boot—but nothing changed. I tested with other mice and on a different PC, everything worked without freezing in BIOS. Also, when I had the same mouse on an old system with HyperX NGenuity installed, it never caused issues.

I reinstalled HyperX NGenuity from the Microsoft Store, but the problem returned. After uninstalling it again, the issue disappeared only after repeating my previous steps. It seems the issue might be related to HyperX NGenuity software itself. I tried updating the firmware, but the process failed with an error: "no device found." I reinserted the mouse on another USB port, but the problem persisted.

The firmware version I have is 1122, while the latest one is 1.1.2.4. The support page suggests using an older version, but I'm unsure if it's safe to update now. I also noticed that the firmware link provided points to a version from 10 years ago. Should I still proceed with the update?

Could you help me resolve this? Also, HyperX is asking me to update the mouse firmware, but I want to make sure it's safe. What should I do next?

Ensure your system uses the appropriate CPU model—upgrade if necessary to the FA2 series. The latest BIOS updates are tailored for the 8000 series. Connect your mouse and keyboard through these designated ports.

Absolutely, I understand. Let's keep it clear and concise.

There was a similar issue previously, but their concern was related to Windows.

That's possible. It might also relate to another application you're employing.

Have you explored alternative ports? It seems the BIOS might be the problem. I recall having similar issues a long time ago—details like the mouse or board are fuzzy. If left unresolved, it could become a bigger concern, especially if it's the sole mouse in BIOS.

Recent update - uninstalled HyperX NexGen software > pressed mouse wheel and DPI buttons together for 10 seconds to perform a factory reset > removed the mouse from the USB port > restarted the PC > reinserted the mouse into the USB port and it functioned perfectly in BIOS without freezing. However, after installing the latest HyperX NexGen software from the Microsoft Store again, the same problem resurfaced. When I simply uninstalled the software, the issue disappeared, but when I repeated the steps, it reappeared. I believe the problem lies with the HyperX NexGen software, though I’m unsure how it affects the mouse in BIOS. I still need this software because I have different mouse profiles for various games.

No, it cannot be used without the software installed. It does not have profiles on the mouse.
