Evaluating the value of the purchase
What did you think about Iracing? Worth it? You're using a budget Logitech NASCAR wheel without a shifter.
I don't drive myself... Are you interested in simulation racing?
Simulation racing can be fun, but its not going to be like AAA racing games, it can be difficult and hard to get use to. If you think you might find it interesting, its not too expensive to try, you just need to not buy additional cars, tracks, etc., and cancel your subscription. I think its $12 for 1 month and their promotion right now has 3 months for the price of one. A better wheel will lend to the experience, but that is a significant investment. You could always try it with your wheel or find something better used and see how it goes.
For beginners in sim racing, consider RaceRoom Racing Experience—it's available for free: http://store.steampowered.com/app/211500...1_7_15__13
I don't think iRacing is worth it unless you play it regularly and aim to upgrade your licenses across different tracks. The value is limited because most cars and tracks come with the base account, and you'll have to pay for additional ones. Compared to newer titles like Assetto Corsa and Project CARS, which offer highly accurate, laser-scanned tracks, iRacing falls short. I still play in the Carb Cup series a few times a week. I purchased it for around $50 at launch, but I'm unsure if I'll renew it after that.
It's a subscription game, which isn't appealing to me. However, if you can afford it, I'd choose it or hold off until the stunning project cars arrive.
