You're focused on gaming. A 16 gig 3600 cl16 kit should suffice. Adding 32 gigs is more than enough, and you can upgrade later if it's a 2x16 setup. If unavailable, consider a B550 Aorus Pro, an A Pro, or a Tomahawk. For the X570, the Tomahawk, TUF Plus, and X570-P are also solid choices.

I frequently handle media conversions. My daughter, who still uses my machine, focuses on graphic drawing and rendering. I’m convinced a significant boost will come from upgrading from the 4-core CPU Athlon X4 860K Kaveri Quad-Core to the 6-core R5 3600. It seems hard to justify spending an additional $120 for the 3700X just for two extra cores right now. Adding a NVMe scratch drive would also make a difference, based on what I’ve read.

I’ll leave the CPU, MB, Memory and Case unchanged. Now I need to include the new PSU as well. Since I’m running low on 750W units and they’re scarce, I should aim for at least 750W or 850W. (I actually bought my son a 1000W unit, which might have been a bit overpriced.)

It offers more than just two extra cores; it runs significantly faster than the Kaveri cores. The 3600 should suffice, but 64GB of RAM seems excessive. You're probably considering getting the CPU, motherboard, memory, and other components for around $650?

I've been testing different cases recently and adjusting the power supply fit. Currently, my rough estimate is around $800 to $900 for completion. It reminds me of how a simpler PC can cost less than a high-end one once it's built.

I aim for half the available memory because I handle tasks beyond just MB limits. However, with changes over time, that requirement seems less critical now. I might manage with 32GB. Also, @Mateyyy—have you noticed my discussion about faster speeds versus lower CAS latency? Of course, I should evaluate the best option when I decide to proceed, not dwell afterward.

The 3600 delivers 70-80W under full load, and for future upgrades the 3950X provides roughly 140-150W at best. Going over 750W is excessive, even with a 3950X and powerful graphics card. A solid power source is the key factor. When you combine these specs, you might approach your $650 budget a bit. PCPartPicker offers the right parts at reasonable prices.
