You're going to need a clearer understanding of how Windows 8 offers more personalization options. Regardless, Windows 8 isn't terrible. I still favor Windows 7 because it functions well and I’m familiar with making adjustments. I have extensive experience with both systems, so the decision really depends on your needs.

Interface offers a split-screen setup for multiple tasks. Metro serves as an example. Signing in with a Microsoft account or a local account works well. The Account Select background can be adjusted to suit preferences.

You can skip the metro interface and use custom solutions to mimic Windows. It often causes issues and can make using the system frustrating.

you already have an operating system, so upgrading isn't necessary to play 8. however, you'll enjoy quicker startup times and there are updates to Windows 8 bringing back the Win 7 feel. currently some applications support this transition.
