I primarily rely on my PC for gaming, especially indie titles, and stream at high quality. I’m currently using a Ryzen 5 2600X with Corsair H100i Platinum, which works fine except for streaming PUBG possibly due to bandwidth limits. Would upgrading to a 3900X bring noticeable benefits, or would it be an unnecessary expense?
3900x wouldn't be a good choice in that case. If you're already using those features on the existing chip, a 5600x would be much better, provided your motherboard supports it. Unless you really need 12 cores and can't handle the cost of a 5900x, skip the 3900x or any Zen 2 model. If six cores aren't sufficient, a 5700x is available now too.
If your current CPU is already doing OK, don't bother upgrading. Also, if you do want to upgrade, it would make more sense going 5800X/5700X. It's much faster single core and only slightly behind the 3900X in multi core while (usually) being a bit cheaper.
When 8 cores aren’t sufficient, the 5900x offers better value compared to the 3900x. In the US, your AIO should still perform well enough.
My 5600X works perfectly with no issues. It performs much better and feels more powerful than the 5900X. The cooling system is straightforward and effective. I still have decent Adata 3200 16-20-20 cables working well.
I’d upgrade the RX580 before the CPU. The GPU seems a bit underpowered, so spending on a new chip might be worth it. Noted a few GTX 980ti models with nickel ekwb blocks and back plates for $175 each—two available for sale. Overclock.net sounds like a good source.
