It seemed a bit underwhelming compared to what I expected. Just a refreshed Civ V experience.

Not entirely confident about this. It appears to feature a more engaging tech framework and a significantly smoother "social policies" system. While it remains largely mechanical, it offers enough variation to feel genuinely compelling. My main concerns revolve around AI integration and sustained long-term engagement in the game. Civ V at launch faced major issues there.

Firaxis titles lately appear to gain momentum only after new expansions arrive. Civ V: Brave New World and XCOM: Enemy Within added strong elements to otherwise solid games. I’m keen on Beyond Earth, but I’ll keep an eye out for updates.

I've already placed the order (NA here). GalCiv3 remains in Beta and tends to freeze every few turns for me, so I need a turn-based solution. It resembles Civ 5 somewhat, but not as closely as Civ 5 did with Civ 4, and that's my main issue. The main challenge is the increased restrictions on terrain and resources, plus an orbital layer that could enhance gameplay beyond casual play.
