Hi everyone, I'm in NA with a monitor purchased in Europe (UK). The power cable/adapter is missing. Can I get a generic replacement that works safely? As long as the voltage matches and the amps meet the minimum requirement, should I just check the polarity or frequency? For example, is a 60Hz cable safe, or do I need to confirm if the monitor supports 50/60Hz? Here are the details: Monitor – LG 27GL83A – Power – 19V 2.4A Product code for original supply – EAY62933010 Thanks for any advice.

Voltage and other details are not important here. Using a wrong cable might harm the monitor, which is the main issue in this discussion. I want to confirm whether an NA power cable works with a monitor purchased in Europe, and if so, what specifications must match.

The monitor requires a 19V power source, so an external power adapter is necessary. You can't plug it directly into a standard outlet. Do you still possess the adapter? If yes, verify it supports 110V input—usually indicated on the device. Lacking one, obtain a model compatible with NA voltage standards.

All power bricks and cables are missing. Are you suggesting any compatible power brick that works with any standard NA power brick matching the voltage, amps, and connector type (like a barrel connector) will suffice? There’s no need to verify the original power supply’s specifications or polarity.

There are various kinds of barrel connectors, and polarity remains important. I’d consider purchasing an original LG power brick with an NA cable—these work with both EU and NA outlets. If you opt for a generic model, make sure it supports reversing the polarity so you can align it with your monitor’s requirements.

She believes the issue lies more with the power source than the cable itself, emphasizing that compatibility depends on your power supply, which likely doesn't match our system. A converter might be necessary. You should check if your monitor uses multiple voltage types, as that will determine the solution.

See, this adds another reason why I dislike Upgrades... EU uses a different power outlet than USA... I won't switch my outlet. I also won't purchase adapters from the USA outlet, or I won't buy the product... Mostly because I'm not changing an entire house setup just for one device, or two—it's just silly, -_- Too bad you don't have the STEAM Link Box; it came with a USA/EU adapter plug, which should work for your computer, I think... Not sure... But you'll need to buy an EU cord and a EU/USA adapter plus a USA cord, I guess... Is the cord something like three widely spaced prongs on a ring? --- The other end being a triangle cord ----- with three closely placed circle whorls? Asking because my EU power cord was...

The monitor's power supply is missing, which is causing the issue. I'm checking if I can purchase a compatible power supply in North America without any trouble, or if I'll have to look for a European option plus a converter.

I searched for the part number of the original adapter. It operates between 100-240vac and 50-60hz input, making it compatible with NA, UK, AU, and EU regions. You’ll need the appropriate wall cable for the input end. There’s at least one eBay seller that lets you pick the wall cable during checkout.

I wasn't able to locate that information, it seems my search results were limited. Could you provide some relevant links or images? That would help me find what you're looking for.
